The conference planning committee welcomes your participation in the 22nd annual HIV/STD conference, "The Time is Now" Opportunities * Strategies* Possibilities. This year’s varied and comprehensive program will feature an exciting lineup of keynote, plenary speakers and concurrent sessions.
Purpose: To provide new ideas and practical information to assist you in the comprehensive approach that must be used to prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
This conference will foster connections across disciplinary lines to share effective prevention approaches and research findings, to examine state-of-the-art medical management of HIV and STDs, to strategize the best ways to get services to those in need, and to learn about current and emerging policy issues.
Come share your experiences, learn from colleagues and network with others who face the same challenges in combating HIV/STDs. Please register early to ensure your place among the more than 400 of your colleagues expected to attend and participate.
This activity has been submitted to WNA CEAP for approval to award contact hours. Wisconsin Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Licensed Social Workers/Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors/Clinical Licensed Professional Counselors: Oakton/ALL/CEHP is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as a sponsor of continuing education for licensed social workers and licensed counselors/professional counselors.
Addiction Counselors: This activity has been submitted to Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA) for continuing education credits.
Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES): Illinois Public Health Association is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. This program is a designated event for CHES to receive Category I CECH in health education.
Teachers: Illinois State Board of Education is providing CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units): A special Evidence of Completion Certificate” will be issued at the conclusion of the conference.
Universal Training Hours for Other Professionals: One universal training hour from Oakton/ALL/CEHP is equal to one 60-minute clock hour.
Note: $10 certificate fee will be assessed for all continuing education credits
The certificate of attendance will be free for all participants.
Purpose: To enable participants to prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Target Audience: Registered Nurses, Licensed Social Workers/Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, health educators, allied health professionals, public health professionals, case managers, HIV/AIDS and STD educators, mental health and substance abuse counselors, HIV/STD counseling and testing personnel and teacher.
Co-Provider Statement: This activity is co-provided with the Illinois Public Health Association, the Illinois Department of Public Health and Oakton Community College.

Red Ribbon Awards Nomination
The 22nd Annual Illinois HIV/STD Conference Planning Committee is asking for your help in recognizing those individuals and organizations who provide outstanding HIV/STD advocacy, prevention, education and care services to the citizens of Illinois. Please take a moment and nominate individuals or organizations for one of the three awards that best captures their ongoing efforts and dedication. The Red Ribbon Committee takes into consideration the quality and content of each nomination and not necessarily the number of nominations a person or organization receives. Therefore, copies of one nomination submitted numerous times by several individuals will not be considered. Please use this form to submit your nomination(s). All nominations must be received by September 30, 2013

The Rendezvous room will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013, for the exhibits. Exhibitors will have access to the Rendezvous room for setup from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., October 15, and 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., October 16, 2013.
The 2013 HIV/STD Conference Planning Committee is dedicated to having a “greener meeting.” We have asked conference speakers to post their handouts online thus eliminating paper handouts. We also encourage all participants to recycle badges, papers, plastic bottles, or anything else that can be recycled. Thank you for your participation in making this conference environmentally friendly.
