Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation is proud to sponsor the first dialogue in a series dedicated to issues of the underinsured population:

"Access and Cost-sharing of Specialty Medications for Underinsured Patients"

Join an intimate group of policy makers, patient advocates, and pharmaceutical and specialty pharmacy executives to gain insight and discuss various topics facing the underinsured population.

PAN is pleased to announce the meeting’s keynote speaker:

Governor Philip Bredesen
(Tennessee’ s Governor from 2003-2011)

“How is Health Care Reform Impacting Patient Care?”

Known for his nonpartisan approach to problem solving and careful fiscal management, Bredesen's political style proved successful and popular. In 2006, despite his state's strong Republican majority, he won re-election with more votes than any candidate for governor in Tennessee history and became the first governor in over a century to carry all 95 counties. As governor, he reformed Tennessee's out-of-control Medicaid program—called TennCare—and developed several innovative approaches to assisting the uninsured. He was a leader nationally in eHealth initiatives and served as both the Policy Chair of the Democratic Governors Association and the Democratic co-chair of the National Governor's Association task force on health reform.…….. click here to read full bio.

The meeting will focus on several other compelling topics that include:
  • Unsustainable Trends: What are They and What is Their Impact?
Future trends related to specialty therapeutics and how the pharmacy benefit may change and evolve under healthcare reform.
  • The Patient and Chronic Care
What are the programs and services that can be used to assist patients in understanding and becoming literate about the chronic care medications?
  • Healthcare Delivery: Focus on Health Insurance Exchanges
Discussion on how Health Insurance Exchanges will achieve the goals of improved health by assuring access to affordable, high quality care.
  • Patient Assistance Trends
A panel discussion with panel member perspectives that will include: Physician, Patient Advocate, Payer, Research, New Models of Care.

PAN is also hosting a special pre-meeting VIP reception for symposium attendees on Monday, November 4th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the W Washington Hotel, 515 15th Street NW, Washington, DC, 20004.
