Shell and NEED have partnered to provide K-12 educators in the Pinedale, Wyoming area with energy curriculum and teacher training to expand their energy activities in the classroom and in afterschool programs. The workshop content is aligned to Wyoming state standards and the Next Generation Science Standards as well as Common Core. We are pleased to announce an upcoming workshop on April 29, 2014 at the Sublette BOCES in Pinedale, WY. This workshop is a unique opportunity for classroom teachers (K-12) to learn about energy – forms of energy, energy resources, exploration for oil and natural gas, transportation, and energy efficiency.
NEED materials engage and excite students to learn more about energy and to apply that knowledge in science, technology, engineering and math. The lessons integrate all subject areas and provide a balanced look at energy.
Participation in this workshop provides educators with a Science of Energy Kit or Fossil Fuels to Products Kit to explore forms of energy and energy transformations or the properties and formation of oil and natural gas.
There is NO COST to attend the workshop. Breakfast, lunch, parking and substitute reimbursement are included.
The NEED Project designs and delivers teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators. NEED materials and training programs provide comprehensive, objective information about the scientific concepts of energy and the sources of energy – their use and their impact on the environment, the economy and society. All NEED learning activities are aligned Wyoming standards.
