2014 Good Teaching Conference-South
The CTA Good Teaching Conferences are designed to support excellent teaching and learning practices for classroom teachers.  Offering a variety of diverse workshops in curriculum content areas for K-12 teachers, the conferences provide opportunities for professional development and offer time to network and share ideas with colleagues and experts in the educational field.

Registration starts on Friday and the hours are 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a reception (light meal) and dance beginning at 6:00 p.m. There are four 1.25 hour workshops beginning on Saturday at 9:15 a.m., and end with Caucus Meetings from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday's workshop is scheduled from 8:30-9:45 a.m.; followed by brunch and general session. The conference concludes at 12 noon.

This year we are pleased to offer two different Friday Pre-Conference sessions.  These all day sessions are:

o Common Core and Beyond: A Practicum on Literacy and Mathematics Curriculum, Instructional Strategies and Assessments  CLICK HERE FOR COMMON CORE AGENDA
o The Educator’s Guide to Saving and Investing for Retirement - (CTA Members are requested to complete an application for paid release time.  The limit is three members per chapter, one training per person per year, and the application is part of the registration process).

Be sure to enroll in one of these exciting pre-conferences.  Click here for Pre-Con Descriptions

Presented by:  Tammy Duggan from Sierra Avenue Elementary and the Author of "The Uncluttered Teacher".  This how-to book explains the de-cluttering, organizing and time management techniques needed to regain control of one’s day. It is also featured in the September issue of the "California Educator."

The Common Core tidal wave is here and the goal is to help keep you from crashing into the shore! With the growing amount of information, trainings and changes coming from Common Core one needs a way to manage it all. This bonus session will teach you how to do that.

There will be a quick overview of the process Tammy created  that will teach you the basic principles of  organizing.  She will explain how Common Core can be used as the catalyst to motivate you to make the changes needed to better organizing  your time and space.  Towards the end of the session, processes will be applied to some specific situations you may be faced with when trying to manage the information overload of Common Core.

All conference fees are due and payable at the time of registration. CTA accepts checks, credit cards and purchase orders. (Check the online registration site for the address for mailing checks and faxing purchase orders.)
