Lung cancer remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the United States and worldwide. Recent technological advances make earlier diagnosis and treatment possible, providing for better patient outcomes. Controversies and gaps in physician knowledge still exist. The just released national guidelines for screening, diagnosis and treatment, require further education. The Institute for Medical Education (IME) has planned and will sponsor the 19th Annual Fall Oncology Symposium held jointly with St. Mary’s of Michigan (Medical Center),a member of Ascension Health. The focus of this year’s symposium will be on lung cancer, and is timed to coincide with lung cancer awareness month in November of 2013. This CME accredited activity will bring together national thought leaders, including several authors, of guidelines for screening, diagnosis, staging and treatment of lung cancer, for an interactive live and online activity.
