Join us for the 7th Annual Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Informatics Symposium, presented by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia's Center for Biomedical Informatics on April 25, 2014 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. 
Session presenters include nationally known informatics experts who will share their perspectives on the impact of big data on health informatics and innovation. This year's program also includes paper presentations from some of today's emerging voices. This conference is for investigators, physicians, nurses, and information professionals.

John Glaser, PhD currently serves as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Health Services Business Unit of Siemens Healthcare, where he is responsible for heading Siemens’ global healthcare IT business, including product development, strategy, portfolio management, financial performance, and overall customer satisfaction. In this capacity, he leads over 4,500 employees, multiple health information system brands, a robust Global Services arm, and Siemens’ world-renowned Information Systems Center.

Dr. Fridsma is the Chief Science Officer and Director of the Office of Science and Technology in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Prior to arriving at ONC, Dr. Fridsma was on the teaching staff in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Arizona State University and, as a practicing internal medicine physician, had a clinical practice at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale.

Join us for breakfast and benefit from the experience of colleagues who took and passed the exam offered in October, 2013.  They will be there to provide tips and techniques for how to prepare for the exam and share more information about exam specifics.  Jeff Williamson, AMIA’s Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs, will be available to field questions, listen to opinions, and describe other efforts in informatics credentialing.

Come hear about the Maintenance of Certification (MOC). Pesha Rubinstein, AMIA’s Director of Education will provide the most up-to-date MOC requirements.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia 7th Annual Healthcare Informatics Symposium program ends at 4:45 PM


The Mid-Atlantic Chapter organizing committee, members, guests and AMIA staff will gather for networking, light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres (cash bar). The program will be brief. Chapter leaders are seeking ideas from the informatics community about how to build and grow a local network of informatics professionals and create quality educational programs.
