Breakout Sessions: Several breakout sessions will be held, allowing conference attendees to dig deeper on current and emerging health topics. Representatives from public health institutes, health policy centers, and national partner organizations will lead 90 minute sessions, designed to be highly interactive and educational, that highlight innovative projects and programs that address critical health topics.

Workshop Sessions: There will be several workshop sessions held this year at the 2014 NNPHI Annual Conference. Representatives from public health institutes, health policy centers, and national partner organizations will lead interactive workshops, designed to be a skill-building training for public health institutes and other conference attendees. This year, conference attendees will have a chance to submit an abstract for a 2-3 hour workshop session. Information about the workshops will be posted on the Agenda as it becomes available, please visit the Agenda tab for details.

Collaborative Practice Design Labs (New!): There will be two collaborative practice design labs sessions this year. These sessions are an opportunity for public health institutes and system partners to discuss opportunities for collaboration on new areas of potential work. One session will focus on Population Approaches to Health Care Systems and the other will focus on New Models, Strategies and Trends for Nonprofits. NNPHI is soliciting up to 3 facilitators for each of these design labs to select a potential area of work (such as supporting data sharing across partners or exploring collective impact opportunities) and lead conference participants in a discussion of potential projects, funding sources and roles/activities for a consortium of public health institutes and their partners interested in working together.  This is a new session format that is experimental in 2014 and is designed to encourage future multi-institute collaboration.

The conference participants will include a diverse mix of public health professionals, including representatives from:

  • Leaders and senior staff of public health institutes across the country (representing a combined workforce of over 4,500)
  • Emerging public health institutes
  • Local, state and federal health officials
