Being a caregiver is demanding and emotionally taxing. Common personal stressors--health, family, or financial problems--coupled with the day-to-day emotional demands can cause even the most stress-hardy among us to develop stress-related symptoms. Stress-related health issues include headaches, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, asthma, depression, anxiety, and gastrointestinal problems.

Research shows that people who are self-compassionate experience greater well-being than those who constantly critique and criticize themselves. Self-compassion is associated with better mental health, greater life satisfaction, higher positive affect and less emotional reactivity. Additionally, it can support successful self-regulation with health related behaviors, helping you make changes in the areas of diet, exercise and stress management.

Open to both "professional" and other caregivers. Six CEUs available for mental health and nursing professionals.
