Summer 2014 is our time as educators to Rise, Reclaim and Renew the teaching profession in Ohio. Welcome to the registration website for the 2014 OEA Summer Academy to be held August 4-6, 2014 in Columbus, Ohio. This year the Academy will be focused on supporting the skills needed to develop as a leader in the current education environment: Leadership, Collective Bargaining, Communications, Organizing, Political Action and Professional Advocacy. 

Registration Information
OEA provides this summer learning opportunity to OEA members who are seeking or currently serving in a variety of leadership roles in their local association. Attendees must use their OEA Member ID to complete the registration process. Registration for the conference is $100, however, scholarship assistance may be available from your local or district association. Be sure to inquire with your local leaders regarding cost and the scholarship application requirements.

The Summer Academy will be held at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, 401 North High Street in Columbus on Monday, August 4 through Wednesday, August 6. Registration will open at 7:30 AM on Monday followed by the Welcome and Keynote which will begin at 9:30 AM.

Lodging Information
A block of sleeping rooms at the Hilton Columbus Downtown has been reserved for OEA members and staff. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS. Please click on the lodging tab for more information about the hotel and the link to make your reservations online.

Please see additional information regarding parking if you will be staying overnight at the Hilton.

Parking Information

If you choose to valet park, the cost is $24.00 for overnight valet and $15.00 for the day. This expense is non-reimbursable and will be your responsibility. 


A map to the Vine Street Garage (West Parking Garage) is also attached. Please note that Vine Street is now one way heading east.

Parking rates can be costly (up to $18 during the day and $20 overnight), therefore members are strongly encouraged to carpool in order to keep the cost to OEA down.

Room Reservations and Parking Fees: If you have a sleeping room, please do not pay the parking fee upon entering the parking garage. Let the attendant know that you are with a group at the hotel and you will pull a ticket to enter. When you check in, your room key will provide you with in and out parking privileges. Please verify with the registration desk that your room key does have in/out access for garage parking. 

Daily Parking Without a Hotel Stay: If you do not have a sleeping room and you are a “DAY PARKER,” let the attendant know that you are with a group at the hotel and pull a ticket upon entering. Keep this ticket!  You will need this ticket along with another ticket provided by OEA at registration in order to exit without being charged. You must have BOTH tickets in order to avoid being charged for parking.

HANDICAP PARKING SPACES are available, first come-first serve, on every level of the parking garage. 

You will want to allow for extra time to enter and exit the garage area. IT CAN TAKE 5-25 MINUTES TO GET IN/ OUT due to the stop lights at each corner of the hotel and parking garage.
