Join us at the Region I Leadership Conference and discover how your voice and participation in your union can help you take control of your future. The conference has five strands from which you will be able to select electives. The strands focus on Community Engagement; Leadership and Leadership Development; Social Justice, Equity & Diversity; Advocacy on Education Reform; and Transforming our Profession. These focus areas may look familiar as they are the focus areas of the CTA Strategic Plan: Our Union, Our Future. There will be many exciting topics within each strand including Building a Value Based Union, the “Local Control Funding Formula,” CTA Teacher Evaluation Framework and the Affordable Care Act.
As you are well aware, educators, unions and students continue to be under attack. A quality public education is the foundation of the middle class. Without it our students are disadvantaged from the start. As powerful educators leading California’s education agenda you will be shown how participation in your union, engaging members, reaching out to your local community and advocating for student s and educators can help you shape the future of your profession. This conference is an opportunity to learn new skills, improve upon your existing attributes, and obtain information to assist you and your chapter in taking action.
This is a great opportunity to introduce new members and new leaders to the benefits of participating in their union.
