Course Description
Emergency medicine physicians as well as other emergency department providers require continuous updates in their knowledge and skills for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury. This one day course will provide an overview and update on a broad range of topics that are pertinent to emergency medicine practitioners.  This year’s symposium will have lectures on Acute Cardiac Emergencies, Diagnosis of Neurologic Catastrophes, Critical Care at the End of Life, and more.

Educational Objectives:
  • Identify appropriate candidates with acute ischemic stroke and treat with IV TPA to improve their future neurologic function.
  • Utilize palliative care resources for appropriate patients to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate resource stewardship, thereby reducing costs and side effects to patients, of non-essential testing, and positively impacting our healthcare system.
