The Real World of Today’s Church Extension Fund

Church Extension Funds have continued to thrive in an unstable economic environment.  While this has been the case, we need to be keenly aware of the challenges that continue to surround us.  This year’s DILA program will answer many of the questions that confront us – in the Real World of Today’s Church Extension Fund.

Tim Cool, author of “Why Church Buildings Matter” and the more recently released, “Locality (co-authored with Dave Kinnamin),” is serving as this year’s keynote speaker.  Tim has provided consultation to churches on facility issues for more than twenty-five years and has become a nationally renowned expert on the subject.  Other plenary sessions on real estate and the economy as well as DILA breakout sessions by function, fund size and issues of current interest will make this a most interesting and memorable DILA event.

Purpose Statement
DILA is an informal fellowship which meets to help maximize the effectiveness of not-for-profit entities organized to provide loans to various affiliated churches and related religious organizations within their Denomination by providing networking opportunities and educational resources.

Our vision is to provide:

  • A forum for problem-solving and discussion of best practices;
  • An environment where each participating organization can actively participate in discussions, voice opinions and share information; and
  • An awareness and understanding of “key happenings” in the industry.

Who can Participate?

Organizations that participate in DILA are Church Extension Funds (“CEFs”) as defined in the North American Securities Administrators Association Statement of Policy regarding CEF Securities dated February 20, 2004 (i.e. “a Not-For-Profit Organization affiliated or associated with a Denomination, or a fund that is accounted for separately by a Denomination organized as a Not-For-Profit Organization, that offers and sells Notes primarily to provide funding for loans to various affiliated churches and related religious organizations of the Denomination for the acquisition of property, construction or acquisition of buildings and other related capital expenditures or operating needs) and/or Loan Funds (“LF’s”) affiliated or associated with a single Denomination that are organized as a Not-For-Profit organization to provide loans to various affiliated congregations and related religious organizations of the Denomination.

Attendance at meetings is limited to CEF’s/LF’s and their professional advisors. The persons representing CEF’s/LF’s at meetings are determined by each CEF/LF. If a vote is taken on any matter at a meeting, a single vote for each attending CEF/LF shall be cast by the person designated by the organization. Attorneys, accountants and similar professionals that serve one or more CEF’s/LF’s are invited to attend meetings only as representatives of the CEF’s/LF’s they serve.

For-profit and other organizations that provide financial resources from a profit motive or vendors of goods and services may exhibit their services and present seminars or breakout sessions to participants at the meeting only upon invitation and approval of the host of that meeting.

DILA Sponsorship Opportunities
