Plastics Caps & Closures 2015

The world's largest conference for plastics caps and closures returned in 2015 when the most extensive agenda in the event's history, featuring sessions from many leading caps and closures producers and both a prominent brand owner and retailer. The conference expanded its focus on technological innovations and key issues that will affect the future of plastics packaging as a whole.

Speakers included Jonah Smith, sustainability manager-policy and reporting at MillerCoors LLC, Monique Oxender, chief sustainability officer of Keurig Green Mountain Inc. and Stephanie Baker, director of market development for KW Plastics, the largest plastics recycler in North America.

The well-rounded program included discussions of spouts, fitments, pouches, sports caps, flip-top containers, health care closures, closures for small containers, thin-wall applications, third party engineering, tactile-feel containers, laser marking, sealing, equipment trends and materials forecasts. 

In addition, a Technology Forum that was held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 15 addressed both market and technological challenges in an intensive three-hour session. The Forum was organized by Nova Chemicals. A tour of Janler Corp., a major mold builder of caps and closures, also took place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 that was sponsored by Roehr Tool Corp. and Progressive Components International Corp.'

A "Radically Red' welcome reception, sponsored by the Dow Chemical Co., kicked off the conference on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Nova Chemicals sponsored the 19th Hole dinner reception at Top Golf featuring dinner, drinks, games and abundant networking opportunities.
