Engagement Strategies to Enhance Student Achievement with Eric Jensen

Engagement Strategies to Enhance Student Achievement with Eric Jensen

Fall '14 Webinar Series
Dates: November 5, 6, 12 and 13
Time: 3:45 - 5:45 pm Alaska Standard Time

There is a strong and significant correlation between engagement and achievement. Eric Jensen will explore how educators can master engagement and use it to help students excel.

Webinar Topics:
  • Engagement Strategies to Build Effort
  • Engagement Strategies to Build Cognitive Capacity
  • Engagement Strategies to Build Attitude and Mindset
  • How to Build Staff Culture for Success.
In these webinars Eric Jensen will share an instructional plan (backed by quality peer-reviewed research) that teachers, schools, and districts can use to build student achievement.  The four-part series will focus on smart paths that feature high quality instruction and school leadership.

Here are the three focus areas for the four webinars.

1.  Staff buy-in. Every staff member must be absolutely sold on the capacity of students to change, the “how to” for more effective teaching, the compelling sense of urgency and their (the teacher’s) own capacity to make it happen. Teachers are our greatest national resource - and the better they become, the better our country becomes.

2  Instruction. High Quality, High-Yield Pathways – Building student competence requires purposeful teaching and not random methods for engaging students. Each session focuses on the “why” and the “how” for the 5 pathways introduced. Each session will provide quality research to support the claims made about each strategy’s capacity for change.

3.  Debrief the Learning. Each webinar features a debriefing time so that participants can have an instructional framework that ensures student success. Participants will learn how to set up each of the activities to optimize results. Each of the activities will include establishing purpose, modeling thinking, guiding instruction, positive group work, and independent learning tasks.

The ultimate goal is successful classroom implementation. There will be time for Q & A at the end of each webinar.

The content will be relevant to all K-12 educators, as well as content area teachers and administrators.
