Online Registration

Online registration will be available until June 23, 2015. Payment is due upon registration if paying via credit card or upon receipt of your online confirmation if paying by another method. Registrations qualify for early fees if paid in full by or before midnight of April 30 at the international dateline (which is GMT-12 hours or 7:59 am local time on May 1 in Boston). Space cannot be guaranteed for any advance registration that is not paid in full by the online registration deadline. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.

On-site Registration/Information Desk Hours
 If you are unable to finalize your plans by June 23, you may register at the on-site registration desk, which will be available at MIT Media Lab (Building E14, 6th floor) on Tuesday, July 7, from 6:00pm-8:00pm and at the registration desk by the conference sessions on July 8-10 during conference hours.
On-site registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis.

  • Standard Participant registration includes a welcome reception on July 7; all sessions; breaks on July 8-10; lunch on July 8 and 9; a dinner on July 9; and any meeting materials.
  • Student registration includes all sessions; breaks on July 8-10; lunch on July 8 and 9; and any meeting materials. Social events are not included in the reduced student registration fee; however, the registration process will offer the option to purchase a ticket for the Welcome Reception on July 7 ($65) and the Dinner on July 9 ($75).
  • Additional guest tickets to the Welcome Reception on July 7 and Dinner on July 9 can be purchased for $65 and $75 respectively.
  • Field trips will be offered on Friday, July 10 from 12:30 - 6:00 PM. Prices range between $25-30. A brief description of each trip is available on the registration form. More detailed information can be found on the CUPUM website at: Please note: Once booked, field trips are not refundable.


A block of hotel rooms is available at the Boston Marriott Cambridge (Two Cambridge Center, 50 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02142) at a special conference rate of $249/night, plus applicable taxes. This rate is available for the nights of July 3-10. The deadline for booking at the conference rate is Monday, June 15. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis; it is recommended that you make your reservations early. Phone reservations may be made by calling 1-800-228-9290 or 617-494-6600. Please be sure to mention that you are calling for the CUPUM 2015 room block. You may also make your reservation online at this link. Note: If you are trying to book outside of the room block dates, please call the reservation number for availability and rates. If you attempt this online, the system will respond that no rooms are available.

In addition, a limited number of single- and double-occupancy non-air-conditioned MIT dorm rooms will be available. Rates for a single room will be $82 per night and a double room $108 per night. All room types have a twin-size (single) bed, a desk and chair, a closet, and guest WiFi access via MITNet. Please note that dorm rooms with private baths are not available; shared bathroom facilities are available on every floor. You may indicate your potential interest in dorm housing during the registration process. Further reservation information will be emailed to you as soon as available.

Cancellations and Refund Policies
Refunds for cancellations of registration fees, received by email on or before June 1, 2015, will be granted, less a $75 processing fee and any applicable field trip fees. No refunds will be granted for cancellations of registration made after June 1. All refunds will be made in US dollars and processed in the manner in which the original payment was submitted, with the possible exception of wire payments which, at the organizers' discretion, may be refunded via check. If a refund is made via wire transfer, bank fees are considered the responsibility of the registrant and will be deducted from the refund. Credit card refunds will be issued to the card that was used to make the original payment. Partial refunds will not be granted, under any circumstances, for portions of the registration not being used.

Upon registering you will be able to create a password to access your registration record and make changes until on-line registration closes on June 23, 2015. After June 23, please email with any requests for changes.
