Elizabeth brings over 30 years of nursing leadership experience.  She currently serves as VP and Chief Nursing Officer for Mercy Health Saint Mary's and Mercy Health Physician Partners Grand Rapids. Prior experience in health care consulting, and in various leadership roles from Unit Based Clinical Manager to Corporate leader for 8 hospital health care system for Clinical Improvement, Accreditation, and Safety. Solid understanding of statistical measurements and how to use data and information to improve outcomes. Mercy Health Saint Mary's was the 1st in Michigan to implement the new master's prepared Clinical Nurse Leader role. This new role was created to focus on outcomes and system improvement at the microsystem or point of care. There are currently 14 CNLs deployed across our system of care and current recruitment for additional ones.

Tricia Thomas, PhD, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, ACNS-BC, CNL

 

Tricia Thomas is currently Vice President Clinical Quality & Transformation/Chief Nursing Officer at Trinity Home Health Services.

She also serves as a Magnet Appraiser for the ANA/ANCC.  Her previous role was Director of Nursing Practice and Research for Trinity Health in which she was responsible for assisting the CNOs in the Ministry Organizations as they guide their organizations through the Magnet designation process. Tricia has been a nursing leader in a variety of operational and academic positions for the last 25 years.

Mary Lou Wesley, MSN


 
Ms. Wesley started her career as a medical-surgical nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospita in Pontiac, Michigan after graduating with her BSN from Mercy College of Detroit.  She completed her MSN in Adult Health and Administration from Madonna University.  During the twenty four years she spent at St. Joseph, she held a variety of positions: Assistant to the CNO for Special Projects, Director of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Director of Medical-Surgical and Critical Care Nursing, Associate VP of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer.  While at St. Joseph Mercy, she also taught for four and a half years and Oakland University in Undergraduate and Graduate programs.  In 2010 she left Michigan to become the Chief Nurse Executive for WellStar Health System, based in Marietta Georgia.

Mary Lou Wesley joined Sparrow Health System in December of 2014.  Sparrow has achieved Magnet recognition for excellence in nursing services, placing the hospital among the top 6% in the nation.  Sparrow has earned Magnet Hospital Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  This is the nation's most prestigious honor for nursing achievement and excellence, a measure of quality earned by about six percent of U.S. hospitals.  Magnet designation is national verification of the excellence of their nurses.
