A common need for all water and wastewater utilities is to develop, update, and provide training on standard operating procedures (SOPs). A challenge is making sure that these SOPs account for site specific conditions and take full advantage of industry best practices.

Standard operating procedures are essential for operators when delegating tasks to non-certified individuals. Recent clarifications in Rule 100 state that some duties can be delegated to non-certified individuals if those activities are included in a written operating plan.

This workshop will leverage tools developed by the SOP Cooperative to assist distribution system operators in developing new or improving existing SOPs. The workshop will address the “distribution core,” i.e. SOPs that all systems have. At the end of the workshop, participants should have draft SOPs for all core topics.

The following TUs were approved by the Colorado Operators Certification Program

     0.7  - WT, DS
