This year’s conference Media Literacy and the Power of One high lights the tremendous power to communicate with each other that we are all experiencing as we gain access to  technology and networks and the technology continues to become more and more ubiquitous.  Our students are communicating  globally with their families through Face Time and Skype, and are playing games with each other around the world. Citizen journalism is an everyday experience on worldwide news channels such as CNN and MSNBC and new ideas in the arts and commerce are being crowd source developed  and yet our education system is still pretty much happening in 19th and 20th century classrooms.  Our conference is designed to look at leading edge approaches to global citizenship and the power of the individual.... The Power of One... To make a difference in their own lives, their communities and the world.

Ask any media educator about the necessity of being media literate in the classroom, in every day life,  in order to function today. They get it. Come explore the many facets of media education to advance media literacy.  The Fall 2015 Media Literacy and the Power of One Conference is a collaboration with Home, Inc., MIT Media Lab and SMA. On November 21 come to the Tang Lab for the most innovative conference we have ever organized. Mix and match sessions offered by each of the facilitators. The focus of this trilateral conference is Cost vs Technology. In the past cost was high, tech was low, today the reversal of this ratio is revolutionizing every segment of the industry. Great news for educators, non-profits and PAC who must to get the most bang for their buck.  Education and entertainment are not exclusive of each other in the new paradigm.

Earn hours for Professional Development! All session hours will be compiled and applied toward the Media Education Certificate Program offered as a collaborative effort of Mount Wachusett Community College and Scholastic Media Association (SMA).
