4th SMAP Applications Workshop and Tutorial

April 4-5, 2016

REJ Conference Center
 Austin Capitol Complex
1501 N. Congress Avenue
Austin, TX

The 4th NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) Application Workshop will discuss mission status, post launch applications, and the use of data product by Early Adopters and the SMAP user community. Now in Phase E of the mission life, SMAP plans to gather lessons learned from its community and get a better understanding of the impact SMAP has in areas of applications.  To that effort, Early Adopter case studies are being conducted in weather, agriculture, flood, drought, health and national security to help quantify the value of SMAP data.

The focus of the 4th SMAP Applications Workshop is the use of SMAP data in the broad categories of drought and flooding. SMAP data users are invited to present their findings and provide early results, lessons learned and any feedback that can help communicate the usefulness of SMAP in applications that support decisions for flood and drought forecasts, management and operations.

On day 2, in the afternoon, SMAP will host a data tutorial. The tutorial will give participants hands on experience working with SMAP data and provide guidance to DAAC user services.  Registration for the tutorial is needed.

The workshop will take place all day on Monday, April 4 and half day on Tuesday, April 5.
