5th Annual New Mexico Fire and EMS Expo
The Fire & Extrication classes are also open to First Responders and EMTs. You just need to have NFPA approved bunker gear. Use the course descriptions as a reference. The SCBAs will be furnished by the Fire Training Academy so no need to bring your own unless you wish to do so.
The EMS classes are open to all disciplines: MFR, EMTs, Firefighters, Nurses, etc.
Asterisk/s (*) in front of any course title refers to the following statements:
* =Although there are no “pre-requisites”, certification, knowledge, or experience necessary to take the Basic or Advanced firefighter or extrication courses, in order for you to “fully participate” in any of these hands-on courses (live fire, extrication, etc.) it is strongly recommended that the participant have a basic knowledge of the topic. Please use this as a guide when choosing your courses.
** =All live fire & extrication courses require NFPA compliant PPE; coat, pants, for the outside skills. If participating in live burns, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt (made of natural fibers or Nomex) is mandatory. Coveralls may be substituted.
*** = The rope classes require gloves, eye protection and sturdy, above-ankle boots.
Please dress appropriately for all classes. Shorts, sleeveless shirts, and/or open-toed shoes are not considered appropriate.
Classes are divided into 9 "Tracks" and are color coded to aid in your decisions. Choosing a class in one "Track" does not "lock" you into that track. You are welcome to select classes from any track but remember, your classes can not overlap in time.
The Tracks are:
EMS FIRE ARSON LEADERSHIP RESCUE CODE ENFORCEMENT SAFETY WATER AIR TRACT
