Course Description

CrossFitters train for the unknown and unknowable, but elite fitness does not guarantee personal safety. If CrossFit is the study of human movement, CrossFit Defense is the study of human movement as it relates to violence, fear and aggression. Coach Tony Blauer created a physiologic and instinct-based system (the SPEAR System) that is the seamless interface between the high-intensity CrossFit protocol and the ingrained human self-defense system. It is the only personal-defense system in the world based on the body’s physiological response to danger. Athletes are taught close-quarters skills (no fighting drills) and combines fun, dynamic and effective drills that are extremely effective for anyone of any age who may have to defend himself or herself.

  • 9 a.m.-6 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch break
  • Arrive at 8:30 a.m. to check in.



This default language for this course is English. A translation is usually provided in non-English speaking countries, but inquire at for confirmation before registration.

To Bring
  • Printed version of the registration receipt.
  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Seminar Guide (sent with course confirmation emails) with pen/pencil.
  • Suitable clothes for working out.
  • Snacks and fluids, as well as a meal if you do not plan on going off site during the lunch break.
  • Participants under 18 need to bring a waiver, completed and signed by his or her parent or legal guardian.  Under-18 participants may not participate in the course without this document at registration.
Credentials and Requirements

Those who attend the Defense Athlete Course receive a Certificate of Attendance and do not earn the right to train others using CrossFit Defense principles.

Payment Instructions

  • The fee for the CrossFit Defense Athlete Course is £174.30. Payment can be made via credit card or check. The final balance is due paid in full three weeks prior to the course or your spot will be forfeited. A £105 deposit is necessary to hold your place and payments may be made until three weeks prior to the course start date.

    Credit card payments can be made online during the course registration.
