Seminar Summary

This two-day seminar will cover the evolution of the deep mixing industry and an advanced Micropile 201 design short course. This event is held in partnership with the GeoInstitute of ASCE's East Central Branch, Florida Section and hosted by DFI’s Soil Mixing Committee and the ADSC-DFI Joint Micropile Committee. The International Society for Micropiles will also support this event.

Following the DFI Soil Mixing technical committee meeting on Wednesday, September 7, the first full-day of the seminar on Thursday, September 8 and focus on evolution, design, quality control and assurance, specifications, acceptance criteria, highlighted by innovative regional case histories on the use of soil mixing for earthquake mitigation, soft soil and organic treatment, environmental applications, structure and embankment support, dams and levees, dredged material stabilization, and support of excavation.

The second day, Thursday, September 9, will present advanced design of micropiles, including geotechnical and structural design for structural support and slope stabilization, lateral loading, connection details, materials and construction techniques, and corrosion protection, supported by case histories.

Who Should Attend

This workshop will gather federal, state and local agency representatives, owners and policy makers with foundation practitioners active in the areas of dam, levee and coastal rehabilitation. Contractors, engineers, equipment and material suppliers executing cutoff barrier and ground improvement projects for support of water infrastructure projects are encouraged to attend.
