PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Every nurse is a leader, no matter the position or work setting. Nurses need to articulate professional issues, negotiate patient care, support and coach one another and implement changes in practice. Leadership skills are essential in the changing healthcare environment and nurses with strong leadership skills are the professionals who can make a difference.

Healthcare is constantly changing and evolving, which creates both challenges and opportunities for nurses and other healthcare professionals. Organizational change, challenges all around in all settings, and expectations for professional growth are all part of today’s landscape.

The 2017 Taking the Lead 2017 Conference will focus broadly on leadership skills for use in organizations, for working with others and for challenging yourself.  Other presenters will explore how nurses can influence healthcare at the organizational level, at the primary care site level and at the personal level.  We invite you to join colleagues in learning and sharing ideas about shaping a preferred future for nursing and for healthcare.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You will identify strategies that will strengthen your ability to lead others in organizing, in working collaboratively and in determining your own professional destiny.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This conference is designed for nurses who work in any setting. Whether functioning at the highest levels of administration, working closely with your patient population, providing essential knowledge and skills to students, or developing critical evidence for our profession, you will take away information and leadership strategies that will significantly benefit your practice and your life.

This Program is jointly provided by Beaumont Health, The Institute for Professional Nursing (IPN), the Michigan League for Nursing (MLN) and the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS).
