Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to join us and register for the 2017 IUMBM Focused Meeting on Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetases, to be held from Oct 29th to Nov, 2nd,  2017, in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  This biannual meeting has been held at diverse venues all over the world since 1990, and serves as the critical forum for discussing the latest discoveries involving ARS.

In addition to presentations featuring the traditional structure/function topics, this year’s meeting will particularly highlight the three critical areas of (1) the AARS in synthetic biology and proteome expansion; (2) non-traditional roles of AARSs in physiological regulation; and (3) the role of AARS in neural development and disease. Naturally, we are eager to hear of your unexpected discoveries in other aspects of ARS Biology.  Every day seems to bring a new report of unexpected function or connection to biology. In addition to welcoming back old friends, we encourage newcomers to join us in Florida as well.

As always, a major focus of the meeting is to provide junior investigators (e.g grad students and fellows) with the opportunity to communicate their work to an international audience of their peers.  To facilitate the participation of junior investigators, we are pleased to announce that, owing to the generous support of the IUBMB, we are able to offer 20 travel fellowships to help defray registration and travel costsl. To apply for a travel fellowship, (1) go the site and register, (2) upload your abstract, (3) send a specific request to Herve Roy with a brief description of your findings, and whether or not you have presented at the AARS meeting in the past. Please attach to your message a letter from your sponsor describing the significance of the work and the impact attendance at the meeting will have on your scientific career.

The Sheraton Sand Key Resort located on one of the top 5 most beautiful beaches in Florida and is able to offer us an outstanding rate that is superior to the surrounding properties.  This is high-season for Florida and the resort will sell out, so make your hotel reservations right away.

We look forward to seeing you in sunny Florida.
