The Southeastern Chapter of the AAPM is hosting its 2017 Symposium and Scientific Meeting from February 23-25 in downtown Charleston, SC.  This year's symposium topic is "SRS/SBRT: The Clinical Physicist's Guide to Ablative Radiotherapy" under the direction of Nick Koch, PhD and features expert speakers from across the country.  The symposium agenda can be viewed here.  The educational objectives are:

    1) To become familiar with the unique challenges related to measurement, safety, and treatment planning of ablative radiotherapy.
    2) To describe the capabilities and QA requirements of equipment and software commonly used in ablative radiotherapy.
    3) To gain an understanding of the forces influencing the wide-spread use of ablative radiotherapy and what the future holds for this growing treatment scheme.

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 10 MPCEC hours.  Additionally, application to the ABR for approval of these hours as SAM credits is being made.  The oral presentations target practicing medical physicists who are or plan to be involved in supporting ablative radiotherapy. Attendees will leave confident in how to implement or improve SRS/SBRT procedures at their home institutions.

Scientific Meeting
The symposium is immediately followed by the SEAAPM Scientific Meeting beginning on Feb. 24, 2017.  This year's meeting is directed by BJ Sintay, PhD, and titled "The New Era of Automation".  It features presentations on automation in medical physics as well as general topics related of interest to medical physicists. Click here to view the scientific meeting program.

This SEAAPM has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 7.8 MPCEC hours for the scientific meeting.
