MONDAYS, 5:30 - 6:45 p.m.  Beginning 8/26/19-10/28/19
Instructor: Alice Dury 
Completed 200 Hour Level Training from Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Program in 2006.   I began teaching at OSU Center for Wellness and Prevention in 2006.  After teaching a level 1 class and level 2 class two times a week at CWP for over 12 years yoga has become an integral part of my life.  My full time profession was in a highly stressful corporate sales position for over 32 years.   Yoga became my stress reliever and I believe the reason I was able to maintain my profession.  I’m passionate about teaching yoga and sharing what I have learned to help people on and off the mat.   I’ve personally practiced yoga for 25 years and firmly believe that the more I practice the more interesting it becomes.  Being a student of yoga helps me not only with my personal practice but it also helps keep my teaching skills fresh and up to date.

Gentle Hatha Yoga helps to increase flexibility and aligns your body and mind using strength building yoga postures and breathing techniques. This class is designed to be gentle, meaning postures are held for 3-5 breaths and can be easily modified for each individual. Through simple modifications yoga can be accessible to anyone regardless of their age, size or shape!

THURSDAYS, 5:30 - 6:45 p.m.- Beginning 8/29/19-10/31/19

Alices' Thursday gentle class combines postures and breathing techniques to help relieve stress, increase flexibility and build strength. Whether you are just beginning your yoga practice or have practiced many years this class is for you. Teacher led modifications will help customize postures to meet your particular health issues and personal goals.  Tips on how to progress with your practice will be offered making this class interesting and never boring!    Basic yoga knowledge is helpful for this class.

FRIDAYS, 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m.- Beginning 8/30/19-10/25
Instructor: Susan Cunningham's experience as a yoga instructor draws on 33 years as an RN and more than 20 years of practicing yoga and meditation.  She firmly believes the practices of yoga are essential for 21st century life. She completed her 500-hour teaching certification at Yoga on High, Columbus, Ohio. She is also certified in Pranayama, a Reiki master and has trained with many nationally recognized teachers. She is a long time Urban Zen Integrative Therapy trainer and mentor, and the program manager for UZIT training at Yoga on High. Susan is experienced in teaching yoga to clients of all levels of physical abilities, from athletes to those with physical limitations including MS, Arthritis, diabetes, cancer, cardio/pulmonary diseases and traumatic injuries. She is currently offering UZIT to women with breast and gynecologic cancers through the James at OSUMC at the chemotherapy infusion clinics.

She also was the primary UZIT interventionist for a recent research study using Urban Zen methodologies for pulmonary hypertension. Susan is intuitive and creative in finding ways to personalize integrative yoga therapy sessions to help people recover from and to live with injuries, illness and the general wear and tear of everyday life. Susan and her husband Steve transplanted themselves to Columbus from Philadelphia, PA in 2006. She also lives with 2 demanding yet grateful cats-Louie and Penny.


Susan's creative version of yoga modifies and adapts traditional yoga poses and breath practices to all body types.  Gently easing the body toward flexibility, mindfully building strength. The yoga poses are mostly done on the floor using yoga mats and other props; occasionally standing poses are done using the wall as a prop. Sometimes using chairs to deepen the experience of a pose.  All are welcome. All participants will enjoy postures that work in their body.
