Join us for NJSACC's Leading for Quality Training

Date:        August 8, 9, & 10, 2017
Time:        9am-2pm each day - registration will begin at 8:30am

Cost:         $120 per person includes breakfast, lunch and materials each day

Training Description:

Have you ever wanted to make a bigger impact or generate greater enthusiasm for change? If you answered yes, then attend NJSACC’s “Leading for Quality” training on Tuesday, August 8th through Thursday, August 10th, 2017 in Westfield.

This training is created specifically for you, New Jersey’s out-of-school time professionals, by the National Institute on Out-of-School-Time (NIOST). This year’s focus is: to develop your leadership skills, to foster relationships with your staff, and the youth and families you serve, and to positively impact the quality of your program. So, come boost your leadership skills, learn how to strengthen your organization through a variety of hands on, experiential learning activities and leave with a program improvement plan specific to your site.

Goals of the Training:

To develop your leadership skills to influence change and impact the quality of your program by:

  • Learning how to apply contemporary leadership and change theories to the unique context of out-of-school time through social and emotional intelligence and the neuroscience behind influence.
  • Learning to build stronger human relationships through a customer service approach.
  • Building a larger and stronger OST professional, school administration and community network.
  • Learning how to create a program climate that fosters learning, celebrates diversity, encourages leadership behaviors and models team building.
  • Becoming familiar with the NJ Quality Standards and how they can be used to guide program improvement.

Targeted Audience is Directors/Coordinators who are:

  • Ready to understand the impact of their own leadership styles;
  • Ready to apply leadership skills to influence change and impact program quality;
  • New to their program and/or from programs experiencing challenges
  • Seeking to make changes in the management and operation of their program, for the success of the youth and staff.

Training Content:

  • 3 days of hands-on, interactive training incorporating the NJ Quality Standards for Afterschool.
  • Trainer will assist directors in beginning to set goals for quality improvements.
  • Each participant will receive a comprehensive notebook for personal reflection and reference.

Last day to register will be July 31, 2017.

No refunds will be given after July 31, 2017 but substitutions can be made at any time.  

This project was funded in part with federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by No Child Left Behind, Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant funds through a grant agreement with the New Jersey Department of Education.
