Description of Program Content:
This webinar will provide guidance on informatics approaches to improving laboratory utilization. We will discuss proven approaches to analyzing laboratory data to better understand utilization patterns, strategies for engaging clinical partners, and laboratory information system plus laboratory workflow modifications that can improve utilization. Finally, we will describe general interventions in the electronic health record systems that can help sustain improved laboratory utilization.


Measurable Learning Objectives; At the end of this activity the participant will be able to:

1. Identify 3 variables that provide actionable information when analyzing laboratory utilization data 
2. Differentiate scenarios in which different types of stakeholder engagement are most effective
3. Evaluate the feasibility of modifying your information systems to optimize laboratory ordering
