The intensive covers the entire Yoga Calm® wellness system, highlighting its basic principles and classroom tools including breathing exercises, simple yoga poses, social/emotional skill development activities, relaxation/storytelling processes and emotional guidance techniques. Participants will learn how to design interventions that help students with self-regulation, focus, learning readiness, social/emotional learning strategies, trauma and de-escalation movement.  With further emphasis on neurological readiness for learning and the connection between social/emotional learning and cross-curricular academic achievement, participants will also investigate best practices in the newest brain research.

Through presentation, hands-on learning, reflection and discussion, you’ll learn how Yoga Calm uniquely integrates physical, mental and emotional skill-building.  These support both learning and health while instilling lifelong habits in wellness.  Case histories from social work counseling will be used to highlight and develop strategies useful for working with a broad range of student needs. 

This workshop is for school teachers, social workers, counselors, treatment center staff, yoga teachers, OT's, parents, and other adults that work with children.

Then you will be ready to deepen your knowledge with experiential activities and Q&A sessions when we meet in person.

Coursework also applies toward Yoga Calm Youth Instructor Certification and qualifies for professional development credit.
