This interprofessional conference will focus on providing high-value, cost-conscious care for underserved populations in urban and rural settings. Speakers will address issues commonly encountered in the primary care setting including pharmacogenomics, depression treatment options and management, sinusitis, diabetes update, polypharmacy in the elderly, evaluation and treatment of "red eye", rheumatology, travel-related infections and resilience for healthcare providers. Special focus will be placed on affordable treatment options for patients paying out-of-pocket and medications covered by Medicare, with additional discussion on drug-drug interactions, management of dual diagnoses, and safe prescribing practices.    

Pharmacotherapeutic content (CNE pharmacology contact hours will be provided) will include but is not limited to:
  • drug specific information
  • safe prescribing practices
  • safe medication administration
  • prescribing methodologies
  • new regulations
Target Audience
Advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, physicians, and other health care professionals who are seeking updated information for caring for underserved adult populations in urban and rural settings.

Nursing (CNE Credit - will include pharmacology hours):
The University of Colorado College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. 

This educational offering for 11.75 contact hours is provided by the University of Colorado College of Nursing Office of Continuing Education.  Pharmacotherapeutic contact hours to be determined.  A CNE certificate will be emailed to participants within 30 days after the conference.

Pharmacists and Pharmacy Professionals
Pharmacy (CPE Credit)

The CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program has been accredited for 12 contact hours of knowledge-based education. To receive CE credit, participants must attend the program, complete the online evaluation and provide their NABP eProfile ID number and month and day of their birthdate.  CE credit will be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 30 days after the program.
