What is the impact of science on society and how can it be measured? How can we efficiently use bibliometrics?  What are the ways in which librarians can engage and support the academics?

Exchange ideas with colleagues and find out the latest trends in academic publishing at the 2017 Library Connect Event hosted by the Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Centre of the ETH Zurich. Broaden your skills in bibliometric methods and research data management. Share thoughts and access information that can considerably influence your future library activities. Sign up for free, but be sure to register for this event by May 31st, 2017.

Interactive workshops are the main features of our highly engaging programme. Specifically, we will discuss:

  • The impact of science on society
  • Bibliometrics in use
  • How libraries engage and support the academic community

Our expert speaker, Jenny Delasalle will briefly introduce a handful of metrics, drawing on the Library Connect Quick Reference Cards and then we will get interactive! Participants are invited to explore different ways that bibliometrics or citation scores might be used, based on use cases and your own experiences. From evaluating researchers to ranking journals, bibliometrics can be controversial and are a subject of growing interest. We look forward to a lively discussion, exploring both concerns and opportunities with you.
