For over four decades, the Summer Clinical Institute in Addiction Studies has promoted state-of-the-art strategies and practices through training for those performing health and social services with patients and clients who may be troubled by alcohol and other drug use. UCSD CCARTA is proud to offer lectures, workshops, and discussion sessions featuring experts that focus on science-based strategies and culturally competent services.

           
Objectives:
Through plenary sessions and workshops, the Summer Clinical Institute will provide clinicians with science-based concepts and skills to bridge potential practice gaps. At the end of this event, participants should be able to:
  • Examine possible future therapeutic directions in both medicinal cannabis and U.S. legalization trends
  • Increase their understanding of issues evidenced-based treatment strategies
  • Enhance counseling skills through better understanding of criminal thinking & strategies
  • Gain in-depth information on smoking cessation for individuals with substance use disorder
  • Acquire an insight into how to utilize CBT and the use of medication of opioid addiction
