This class is designed to provide the basics of governmental accounting to individuals who work in the finance area but have little or no governmental accounting training.  It is a great class for any staff (management, department heads, or other departments) who has limited exposure to governmental accounting and needs or wants to understand more

SECTION 1           BASIC ACCOUNTING THEORY

SECTION 2           ACCOUNTS AND CODING

SECTION 3           DOUBLE ENTRY ACCOUNTING

SECTION 4           ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS AND RECORDS

Section 5              FUND ACCOUNTING

Section 6              THE BASIC OF ACCOUNTING

There are many exercises in this class so the participant really understands the difference between private sector and public sector (FASB & GASB) and understands what the accounting system is doing.  It is like an accounting principles course – only heavily focused on governmental – modified accrual accounting and enterprise accounting.  Very hands on and a very good foundation on governmental accounting and the differences between private and public sectors and “why”.
