Dear Colleagues,

The 17th Educational Strategies Workshop of the Association of Medical School Microbiology and Immunology Chairs (AMSMIC) will be held May 14-18, 2018 (Mon thru Fri), in Clearwater Beach, FL at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort.

We will continue to address the future of Medical Microbiology and Immunology education for healthcare professionals.  Key aspects that we plan to include are how to best address the
following:
   •integration of the micobiome
   •integration of microbial infection
   •inflammation and immunology, specifically reviewing advances
    in immunology and its relationship to infections, cancer and
    metabolic syndrome
   •integration of our disciplines into organ-system and
    disease-based curricula.

Like our curricula, our sessions will be more interactive as the
group explores and we will ask each of you to present one of
your success stories to share:
   •what and how we should be teaching
   •how to do it more effectively
   •how to better assess the value of our efforts
   •how to integrate our efforts with the other disciplines that are
    competing for the same hours.

Microbiology and Immunology is inter-diciplinary and it is important to have colleagues from dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and other allied health sciences join the discussion.  There is much more planned and as our speaker roster matures, we will update the website.
