PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Every nurse is a leader, no matter the position or work setting. Nurses need to articulate their value as professionals and demonstrate their leadership skills as they negotiate patient care, support and coach one another and implement changes in practice. Transforming the healthcare environment is a complex issue and nurses with strong leadership skills are the professionals who make a difference.

The pace of change in healthcare is constantly increasing which creates both challenges and opportunities for nurses and other healthcare professionals. Financial pressures, health care reform, quality and safety issues, technological advances, a changing workforce and care delivery settings are all part of today’s landscape. This creates opportunities for nurses to have a greater voice in articulating their value to their peers, to the nursing profession and to healthcare organizations across the continuum of care.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Participants will use the information on how nurses lead and demonstrate their value in this era of healthcare transformation as they work to manage change and improve care in their practice settings.
