Join us for our 25th Annual Continuing Medical Education Conference

The Alaska Psychiatric Association is pleased to bring you another year of affordable, local, leading-edge continuing medical education.  Each year, over 100 psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals congregate in beautiful Girdwood, Alaska, to develop and maintain skills critical to the health and well-being of all Alaskans, and to promote professionalism and excellence in mental healthcare in our state.

With the addition of a special pre-conference day in 2018, this program will provide up to 21 credit hours, of continuing medical education, based on the participant's attendance.  Of these 21 credit hours, 10.725 pertain to advanced psychopharmacology and 2.4 pertain to ethics.

This program is brought to you at a fraction of the cost of CME conferences outside the state, and provides the opportunity to network with colleagues, discover new services and service providers to strengthen your practice, and immerse yourself in a rich learning environment.  Learn more about this year's program topics by visiting our Schedule of Events.

Registration Fees

To receive the early registration rate, you must register and complete payment by February 21, 2018. After that date, regular registration fees will apply through March 15, 2018. Late registration will be available online March 16-21, 2018. On site registration will begin the evening of Wednesday, March 20, during early check-in.  Light refreshments each morning, lunch on Friday and Saturday, and a coffee and tea service during conference breaks are included in your registration fee.

New!  Optional Thursday Pre-conference Sessions: All Thursday sessions may be added optionally for an additional fee.  Add individual sessions for $75 each, or add all four for just $200 (a savings of $100!).

Partial Attendance: $50 per presentation/credit hour (each session is 1.5 hours, for a total of $75), Member or Non-Member.  Purchase 3 presentation/credit hours or more on one day and we'll include breakfast or lunch on the same day.

Refunds: All registration refunds will be mailed after the conference. (Refund will be reduced by the cost of meals).

Attendees may take advantage of discounted room rates at the Hotel Alyeska.  The special rate is based on single or double occupancy and does not include applicable taxes or fees. CME Credits

Content areas

The content areas of our CME program include topics related to suicide screening and risk, TBI, CTE, Alzheimer's Disease, patient communication, prescribing of benzodiazepines, risk management, opioid and alcohol use disorders, neurotransmitter receptors and pharmacology, psychopharmacology and anti-inflammatory interventions, and clinical management of borderline personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.  We emphasize the transfer and application of current knowledge and emerging knowledge derived from research, technical advances, and clinical best practices. Our Mission

The goal of the Alaska Psychiatric Association's Annual Continuing Medical Education Conference is to provide ongoing assessment of continuing education needs of mental health professionals in Alaska and to bring nationally-recognized experts to address those needs. Attendees will come from all regions of the state and include psychiatrists, family practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, nurses, social workers, village health aides and students. The expectation is that attendees will improve their clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices in an environment that encourages lifelong learning in psychiatry and allied professions.

Payment Instructions

  • We accept payment by credit card and check, as well as on site.  For your convenience and to reduce check-in time at the conference, we encourage pre-payment of your registration fees.

    Group Registrations
    Group registration can be coordinated by a single payer through our online registration and payment gateway, allowing an agent to register one or more applicants and make a single payment.  If a third party or agency is paying for your registration by credit card, they will need to register themselves first as a Non-Attending Group Coordinator, as our system requires that all credit card payments be charged to the first registrant.  No fee will be charged for a coordinator's registration (as it is for billing purposes only) and they will not be listed on our attendance roster.  Additional registrants may be added after the Non-Attending Group Coordinator's information.
