Course Description:

Everyone is wearing one! Professional sports including soccer, football hockey and basketball monitor and record their athletes’ training and competition loads using wearable player tracking devices.  The data from these devices are used to train smarter, recover faster and prepare athletes to be at their best for every competition. As this industry explodes, use of these devices will become common place. From high performance professional athletes to amateur and recreational athletes alike, player data is becoming the next big tool for improving performance. Are you ready?

What is player tracking?
How is it used?
What does it tell me?
Does it work the same for every athlete?

This one and half day course will introduce you to player tracking: the nuts and bolts of typical tracking devices, how they are used, what type of information is collected and how it is applied. Leaders in sports science will show you how tracking is used in Major League Soccer, the NBA and USC football. Then you will take your turn. Day Two offers hands - on experience with tracking, collecting and analyzing data during sports drills. This will allow participants to use the equipment and view outputs of their performance, with discussion about how one can put the information to therapeutic use.
