This one-day public conference offered by the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers is a rare opportunity to hear from an incredible group of MI experts on key topics in MI practice and integration and research. This event is ideal for (and not limited to) Counselors, Therapists, Health Care Providers, Social Workers, Psychologists, Corrections Staff, and those working or training in the fields of Substance Abuse & Education who are interested in better understanding both the practice and organizational integration of motivational interviewing in numerous settings. There is also an introductory MI skills building workshop offered for those new to this method.

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a form of collaborative conversation for strengthening a person's own motivation and commitment to change. It is a person-centered counseling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change by paying particular attention to the language of change designed to strengthen an individual's motivation for and movement toward a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person's own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.
