This 6-day course is broken into two sections, FM-1a and FM-1b, with time in between the two to allow participants to practice the skills learned. The intent is to have participants return with questions and comments based on their practical experience trying to use the material from FM-1a, able to discuss what worked and what didn't, and ready to refine their skills even as they learn new ones.

Before registering please note, you must attend all 6 days of the course. There is no exception.

Instructors:
Antonio Stecco, MD, PhD and Larry Steinbeck, PT, MS

Course Description:

FM-1a
Taught by Larry Steinbeck, PT, MS

Course FM-1a (July 20-22) will review the basic principles of Fascial Manipulation®, including an introduction to fascial anatomy, and the biomechanical model employed in this method. The myofascial units that form the myofascial sequences of the upper limbs, trunk, and the lower limbs in the sagittal and frontal planes will be presented. The Assessment Chart used in Fascial Manipulation® will be reviewed in detail.

FM-1b
Taught by Antonio Stecco, MD, PhD

Course FM-1b (August 3-5) will consist in the physiology of the fascial system and the assessment and treatment of the myofascial units for the upper limbs, trunk, and the lower limbs in the horizontal plane. At the completion of FM-1b all participants will be capable of utilizing the Assessment Chart for a 3D examination of the human fascial system. Proficiency in the comparative examination of Centers of Coordination will be stressed, as well as clinical efficiency through education in treatment strategies.

***Each day will begin at 8:30 am and finish around 6:00 pm. FM - 1b will conclude with an examination to appraise the level of understanding and skill level.

Course Objectives:
At the completion of Fascial Manipulation, participants will be able to:

  1. List the types of human fascia and understand the role of fascia in nociceptive pain. (Knowledge)
  2. Differentiate between ascending and descending type of disorders and assess the proper body segments. (Analysis)
  3. Develop effective treatment for myofascial pain syndrome and musculoskeletal disorders. (Synthesis)
  4. Evaluate the quality of the deep fascia through palpatory verification and to adequately treat the fascia (Centers of Coordination) restoring normal tissue sliding. (Evaluation)
