Course Description:
This course teaches you how to use the movement system to assess, diagnose and treat athlete movement dysfunction. The material is highly interactive with an emphasis on the practical application of principles covered in the course. Concepts utilized in the course include symptom modification procedures, dynamometry, anatomical slings, neuromuscular chains, dual vectors and reflexive activation. This is all integrated in to the treatment of swimming, baseball, rock climbing, tennis and volleyball. At the conclusion the course, you will have a greater understanding of how to integrate movement based assessments into sport-specific treatments.

Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the importance of regional interdependence of the upper quarter and its functional relationship to pathobiomechanics.

• Learn the concepts of joint centration, relative flexibility and muscle performance and apply to movement science framework.

• Identify the key critical events of the described sports and select appropriate movement assessments for the upper quarter.

• Understand the relationship between neuromuscular chains and muscle slings and how to use their properties to enhance your treatments to progress into sport specific skill.

• Utilize movement based treatment techniques of joint centration, post isometric relaxation, momentum induced inhibition and muscular facilitation to manage the upper quarter athlete.

• Provide interventions based on a rehabilitation pyramid by linking the key movement impairments from the objective examination to the critical event of the specific sport.
