“UBUNTU” (uu-BOON-too): Creating and Sustaining Healthy Communities

Who we are and how we collectively address the needs of our communities is the focus of the 2018 UMADAOP State Conference. It is our goal to equip service providers across the state with evidence-based, culturally competent tools to enhance their service delivery in Urban Communities.

The conference will focus on issues impacting our community through the lens of Ubuntu: I AM BECAUSE WE ARE!   Ubuntu (uu-Boon-too) describes the belief in a universal bond that connects all humanity. As public officials, community leaders and social service providers, our ability to work efficiently together is essential in maximizing resources that create sustainable, lasting change.

Conference topics are geared toward: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Prevention Professionals, Education Professionals, Treatment Counselors, Social Workers, Mental Health Professionals, Health Professionals, and others interested in substance abuse, prevention, treatment and re-entry topics. CEUs will be awarded for conference workshops.

The conference will also feature day and evening network opportunities and a vendor marketplace.
