The National Tribal Geographic Information Support Center (NTGISC) would like for you to join us at the 9th Annual National Tribal GIS Conference, co-hosted by Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI). This year attendees from across the country will have access to more hands-on workshops & greater networking opportunities to support the utilization of Geospatial Information Technologies within Indian Country.

This year's theme "Impact of New Technologies - Flying into the Future" aims to recognize the various technologies as supporting tools to identify issues and solutions that support the management and protection of Natural Resources, Culture, Land, etc. to achieve greater community decisions that support the well being of tribal communities.

A sustainable Geographic Information System (GIS) Program within a Tribal Government incorporates the values of Community & Culture, Economic Development & Commerce, Education, Health & Human Services, Land & Natural Resources, and Tribal Governance in all stages of the planning, design, deployment and maintenance.

The principle goal of the Tribal GIS annual conference is to exchange information through interdisciplinary dialogues among conference participants who represent industry, academia, and federal agencies. The conference program spans across 4 ½ productive days at SIPI and includes 2 solid days of pre-conference workshops and 2 ½ days of conference sessions, each dedicated to sharing information through presentations, panel discussions, demonstrations, roundtable discussions and other special activities. Speakers are both invited and are selected for oral presentation based on submitted abstracts. The emphasis is on informative discussion and audience participation is encouraged.

“The concept of geospatial awareness is something that has been instilled in Indian Country for thousands of years. By bringing this rich history forward and coupling it with modern technology we are able to provide our Tribal leadership with the information they need to carry our tribes forward; thus paving the way for a progressive and successful future.” - Garet Couch, President of NTGISC
