Map and Directions

Held during the first week of the July School Holidays, NSPS is open to Scouts, Venturers, Guides and Rangers interested in digital photography and is limited to 28 students. (age range: 12.5-18)

For a whole week our students are immersed in the fun world of photography.

They will learn portraiture, lighting, still life and lots more to help them become better photographers. NSPS is the only photography school of this type in New Zealand for young people. Students will also visit and talk to other professional photographers in Wellington.

The school fee includes accommodation, food, materials, access to camera & computer equipment. You are responsible for booking your own travel to Wellington.

Students usually bring their own cameras, but some NSPS cameras are available for student use.

We ask students to bring a 16GB USB thumb drive or portable hard drive to store their photographs.

If students are able to bring a laptop for simple image editing and file organisation this is worthwhile, but the school has computers which can be used where this isn't possible.

Please have the following information ready to use when filling in this online registration form:
  • a brief paragraph explaining why you want to attend NSPS
  • a list of any existing medical conditions & medications you need to bring
  • your doctor's or medical centre address and phone number
  • date of your last tetanus injection
  • date of your last dentist visit
  • your digital camera make & model (eg Canon EOS 1200D) if you can bring one.
