Special Events
Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Competition

West Virginia will never have a food economy without entrepreneurs. Our competitors start with an idea, and with help from "business-minded" adults, mold them into a plan for the final round at the conference. The finalists will supplement their written plans with a pitch to a panel of experienced lenders and business men and women.  Participants leave the competition with a better grasp of business planning, increased confidence in their own skills and some with monetary awards.

Winter Blues Farmers Market
For the 11th year, farmers market fans have an out-of-season opportunity to shop at this premier event on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. Farmers from across the state will gather to sell their winter-hardy foods, goods and products.  This event is free and open to the public.

Local Dine-Around
In conjunction with the Winter Blues Farmers Market, attendees and the public are invited to enjoy local food prepared by chefs from the Charleston area.

Trade Show
Join us for our amped up trade show! This event highlights organization and businesses to help equip and educate you for a more sustainable farm business. From farm tools to tractors, services, opportunities and everything in between - this is one event you do not want to miss! Stop by in the morning or during education session breaks.

Interested in becoming a vendor? Please contact Lisa Jones at 304-293-2715

Silent Auction
The silent auction this year will feature practical, fun and unique items from across West Virginia. All proceeds go to support the West Virginia Small Farm Conference and our conference scholarship fund.

Seed Swap
Bring your extra seeds to the conference. Then, share and swap them with other attendees for new or unique varieties to take home.

Local Food Menu
The WVU Extension Service Small Farm Center believes that local food is not just a viable option for the dinner table, but also a healthy, community-minded choice for events. For this reason, the Small Farm Center sources many events throughout the year with local foods from across the state.

The West Virginia Small Farm Conference offers a delicious menu for all-local meals and snacks, including jellies, popcorn, cheeses, vegetables, meats, beans, wheat flour and more! We are always looking to include more producers in our sourcing efforts and continuously evolving menus to reflect the state and region.  If interested in becoming a future producer for these event, please contact us at 304-293-2715.
