SkinVet Clinic delivers veterinary dermatology CE in Portland!

Join SkinVet Clinic for six hours of timely and practical veterinary dermatology continuing education. This years speakers are Jon Plant, Matthew Carnett, and Sonja Zabel.

Jon Plant
, DVM, DACVD founded SkinVet Clinic in 2009. He graduated from Reed College and Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, then completed a dermatology residency in southern California at the Animal Dermatology Clinic. He founded the Animal Dermatology Specialty clinic in Marina del Rey, CA where he practiced for 14 years before moving to Corvallis to teach at OSU for several years. He has served as a member of the International Committee on Allergic Diseases of Animals, as the Chairman of the ACVD Examination Committee, and as the Dermatology Section Editor of JAAHA.  His publications have focused on developing and validating measurement scales for canine atopic dermatitis. He and his family share their home in Lake Oswego with 3 dogs and  2 cats. 

Matthew Carnett, DVM served for four years in the United States Army as a veterinarian for military working dogs and family pets, providing care throughout the U.S. and abroad in Afghanistan. After leaving the service in 2014, he worked in private practice for a year in Salem, Oregon. He joined SkinVet Clinic as a dermatology intern in 2015 and began a 3-year ACVD-approved residency program in 2016, completing his residency research project and publication ahead of schedule. Dr. Carnett lives in Milwaukie with his wife Mallory, son, 2 pugs, and cat. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Portland Veterinary Medical Association, American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology and the International Society of Veterinary Dermatopathology.

After graduating from veterinary school in her native Germany, veterinary dermatologist Sonja Zabel completed a dermatology residency and masters degree at Colorado State University.  She stayed on as Assistant Professor there for several years before joining the faculty at the University of Georgia.  Dr. Zabel relocated to Portland in July 2015, joining VCA NW Veterinary Specialists. She enjoys the outdoors, mountains and coast alike and loves to go running or hiking. Dr. Zabel’s special clinical and research interests in dermatology include: autoimmune diseases, allergies and otology. She regularly lectures on current research and therapeutic disciplines relevant to veterinary dermatology nationally and internationally.
