Persons on the autism spectrum are strong visual learners, they can be brilliant at expressing themselves visually through art and illustrations. They can be fixated "experts" on specific topics such as dinosaurs, ships or trains. Or, they can be highly detailed in producing line art of architecture and patterns.

In this Social Space Cafe Hop, you will learn about how The Art Faculty empowers individuals with autism to lead meaningful and impactful lives. You will also get to create an artwork of your own.

Jacelyn Lim serves as a Deputy Executive Director at Autism Resource Centre Singapore (ARC). ARC is a charity organisation that provides a wide range of services for people with autism. In her six years with ARC, Jacelyn spearheaded the Employability and Employment Centre programme which trains, places and supports many young adults with autism in open employment.

She also heads the social enterprise arm of the charity, The Art Faculty and Prof Brawn Cafe. Prior to her service at ARC, she enjoyed a career of 16 years in banking.

The Art Faculty (TAF) is a platform that celebrates the abilities of people with autism and related challenges. TAF promotes and showcase their special talents. For every sale of artwork and product, differently-abled artists earn royalties to learn the value of work and financial independence.

The Art Faculty collaborates with brands, retailers, organisations, social enterprises and art practitioners to maximise the potential and showcase the talents of artists with special needs.
