Non-members attending in a team (same school district) with a MASA member: $109
Non-members NOT attending with a MASA member: $139

Cancellations will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds for cancellations made after October 4th. No shows will be billed.

WORKSHOP INFORMATION:
School Tax Elections: Planning for Success in the New Normal, is a workshop based on the book of the same title co-authored by our presenters, Dr. Don Lifto and Barbara Nicol. The workshop’s content represents a marriage of research and successful practice, emphasizing systems and strategies rather than specific campaign tactics, allowing school administrators to elevate their thinking to a more comprehensive and long-range vision of election planning. Don Lifto, a director with Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors (formerly Springsted Incorporated) has worked with hundreds of school districts running operating, bond and technology elections from New Jersey to California. He has been a featured presenter on referendum topics many times at national conferences hosted by AASA, NSBA and ASBO and has had more than a dozen articles published in national journals. This workshop will be beneficial to school districts planning an initial operating, bond or technology referendum, or to those coming back for another try after a lost election. It will also feature invaluable strategies in preparing for and conducting a school tax election.

This workshop will also feature presentations by Barb Nicol, APR on communication planning and Pat Devine and Paul David on Waconia’s successful 2018 referendum.  Barb, Pat and Paul have a wealth of experience and expertise to share with the group.

Based on past workshops, registering a DISTRICT TEAM is highly recommended to ensure a common understanding. Registration includes the program, lunch, materials and one copy of School Tax Elections: Planning for Success in the New Normal, per team.  Additional copies of the book can be requested at $35 per copy.

CONTINUING CLOCK HOURS:
MASA has applied to the Minnesota Board of School Administrators for six (6) clock hours for completion of this workshop.
