Food allergies affect approximately 11 million Americans, resulting in 30,000 emergency room visits and 150-200 deaths per year.  These individuals' immune system mistakenly interprets certain foods or substances (allergens) as harmful, causing an allergic reaction to the substance.  The 2009 FDA Food Code states that "EMPLOYEES are properly trained in FOOD safety, including food allergy awareness, as it relates to their assigned duties."  This Allergen Awareness Webinar will train managers on how to effectively train their staff in allergens to prevent illness and/or death from occurring in their establishment.

Focus Areas:

- What is a Food Allergy
- Symptoms of Food Allergies
- Major 8 Food Allergens
- Handling an Allergic Emergency
- Allergic Reactions Avoidance

*Each manager who attends will receive:  1.5 hours webinar/online Train the Trainer, access information for online quiz, Question and Answer time.

*After the webinar and passing score on the quiz, each participant will receive via email:  Certificate of Completion: Allergen Awareness Train the Trainer Certificate (issued by NSF International Training and Education), a copy of Manager Reference/Guidelines and a copy of Staff Reference/Guidelines.
