*A“planner” is a meeting or event planner that supervises and coordinates the strategic, operational and logistical activities of events. The planner can be employed or hired ad hoc by corporations, associations, governments, and other organizations. This also includes someone that plans social events.

**A “supplier” is someone that provides products or services to meeting planners. Examples include hotels, audio visual companies, entertainment companies, transportation companies, restaurants, etc.

The Convention Industry Council (CIC) has confirmed that the MIC Opening General Session and most Breakouts may be applied towards Continuing Education clock hours (CEs) on the CMP application and Recertification application.
