Purpose

Module 2 focuses on principles of clinical treatment of congenital and developmental deformities in the pediatric and adult patient. The  course is designed to give the participant a greater awareness of the range of anatomical challenges, as well as an outline of planning and treatment options.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:

  • Identify types and causes of soft and hard tissue deformities in the craniomaxillofacial anatomy. 
  • Describe the diagnosis, options, and long term goals in treatment, including use of CT based and traditional planning options.
  • Review and identify different approaches for achieving tissue, bone and
    dentition function and symmetry within the resources of the surgeon, orthodontist, and specialists.
  • Discuss new options in surgical technique, as well as new technologies in bone and tissue reconstruction.
  • Discuss the complications, causes, and lessons learned with each technique, technology, and treatment plan.
